I have noticed that their VHF channel had been quiet. The trucks now
had UHF antennas. They are now using a trunked MotoTrbo system on
frequencies licensed to Staley Communications. This system has multiple
sites, with separate control channels and frequencies for voice
communications. This works similar to Motorola trunked systems as the
control channel puts out a data stream all of the time. Frequencies are
assigned by the given LCN assigned to the frequency. There are usually
2-4 voice channels per site. I have noticed that users are able to use
different sites depending on their location.
Pennsylvania American Water uses TG 59.
Pittsburgh Water and Sewer uses TG 21
I am putting the information together on this system, and it will be added to the site when I am done.
