North Police

I received a message from Tim McKenna with the following change in North PD.

The police departments that were on North PD 12 (460.2875) were combined onto North PD 10 on November 19th, and now that channel covers all police from Harrison Township down to Verona in the Allegheny Valley area. The old North PD 12 is now known as Allegheny Valley Public Safety, and is an ops channels for fire/EMS/police to use as needed.

Site Updated

Updates for most pages were uploaded.

I am working on updating the site. Currently the site is up and running in both the old format, and the newer format. The new format is still a work in progress. I am just working on the basic layout and conversion of the current pages to the new format. There are some bugs that need to be worked out. The biggest issue is getting the navbar to work in older versions of Internet Explorer. Please try out the new sites. Just add .php instead of html at the end of the URL. Any suggestions are welcomed.

The second phase of the site upgrade will be the use of databases, SQL, and PHP to allow easier updating of the site, and more flexibility. Hoping to allow some searching of the databases, and perhaps even the building of your own scan list from the data.

University of Pittsburgh TRS

University of Pittsburgh TRS was changed from a Type I Motorola system to a DMR Capacity Plus system. I have analyzed the system completely yet. Different color codes on each freq. The rest channel will have a data burst similar to LTR systems, every 2-3 seconds. Voice traffic and data bursts will move between the frequencies.

Allegheny County Jail

Allegheny County Jail has been changed over to a P25 Phase 1 TRS. Control channel 857.2125. So far the only TG I have heard is TG 1.

K3CSF Field Day

We will be operating K3CSF from the firehouse during field day. Look for us on the bands. We will be operating from a portable set up outside of garage bay 3 weather permitting (inside if bad weather). Feel free to visit us during operating times.

Munhall Police

Munhall Police have moved to county dispatch. They are now on East Police Ch. 6 470.3624 PL 206.5 using unit #47--

Pittsburgh Pride In The Streets

Pittsburgh TRS TG 54048 is active with traffic related to the event.

I have also heard traffic on TG 54080 last night. Not sure if it was related to this or not.

University Of Pittsburgh Police

University of Pittsburgh Police - 460.3625 - PL 103.5 Ch. 2
453.150 - PL 103.5 Ch. 1

I am hearing them mostly on Ch. 2 today. Lots of radio service testing and switching back and forth. Most ops have been on Ch. 2. I have only heard radio checks on Ch. 1 today.

Medic 950

I was sent information on this,

Forbes Hospital has been designated as Station 950 for both Allegheny and Westmoreland county EMS.  

Unit 951 is a 24/7 physician response unit.  952 and 953 are paramedic response vehicles

Washington County Updates

Some updates for Washington County that were emailed to me :

Zone 2 police, unit 1235 is the dedicated part time Burgettstown unit when not on duty 1230 covers it all other times,  unit 1237 is dedicated part time unit for independence twp and west middletown boro, when not logged on State police out of Washington covers this area.

Zone 3 police,

Units 5830-34, 5820, 5821 covers only the Coal Center area.

Units 5833 and 5834 are the Bentleyville police units

Units 5835-5837 are the Union Twp. Police units.

As of right now these fire companies are still on 46.400, some may be simulcasted on the high band channels also but are primary on 46.400

Medic 4800 is actually Medic 6900 at the North Strabane Base which I believe will be at the Fire Station next to the Meadows Casino. (This is to be going in place but not sure when, was supposed to start a week or two ago.)

This one is a little odd. I have heard the base dispatching in P25, and the cars in analog. I have heard only one half of the conversation using P25.

Pennsylvania American Water Company

I have noticed that their VHF channel had been quiet. The trucks now had UHF antennas. They are now using a trunked MotoTrbo system on frequencies licensed to Staley Communications. This system has multiple sites, with separate control channels and frequencies for voice communications. This works similar to Motorola trunked systems as the control channel puts out a data stream all of the time. Frequencies are assigned by the given LCN assigned to the frequency. There are usually 2-4 voice channels per site. I have noticed that users are able to use different sites depending on their location.

Pennsylvania American Water uses TG 59.
Pittsburgh Water and Sewer uses TG 21

I am putting the information together on this system, and it will be added to the site when I am done.

155.745

I had listed 155.745 as DPW for Fndlay and possibly Sewckley. 155.745 is now non P25 digtal format, and simplex.
