Chris Parris, the writer of the Fed Files Column for Monitoring Times, was kind enough to pass along some frequencies for the Goodyear blimps. Chris was working on the blimp during the coverage of the All Star game.
Ch. 1 - 451.800 - PL 151.4 - Max 35 watts
Ch. 2 - 451.8125 - PL 151.4 - Max 2 watts
Ch. 3 - 456.800 - PL 151.4 - Max 35 watts
Ch. 4 - 456.8125 - PL 151.4 - Max 2 watts
Ch. 5 - 464.500 - PL 151.4 - Max 35 watts
Ch. 6 - 464.550 - PL 151.4 - Max 35 watts
Ch. 7 - 469.500 - PL 151.4 - Max 2 watts
Ch. 8 - 469.550 - PL 151.4 - Max 2 Watts
It is noted that they use an Icom F40LT. The radio has three power settings, 1 watt, 2 1/2 watts, and 5 watts. They are to use the lowest setting that will complete communication.
Call sign is WPPH287. It was noted that there was not a VHF - High band radio on the blimp. They were not using the VHF-High frequencies that I have heard before for ground comms. I will list the VHF freqs licensed to Goodyear under this callsign, but there was no sign of them using these at this event.
27.490 - 35 Watts
35.040 - 35 Watts
43.040 - 35 Watts
151.505 - 35 Watts
151.5125 - 35 Watts
151.625 - 35 Watts
151.700 - 35 Watts
151.760 - 35 Watts
154.5275 - 35 Watts
158.400 - 35 Watts
158.4075 - 35 Watts
Also listed were the air to ground microwave freqs, but it is noted that they are now sending an ASI compressed digital video stream that can not be received by receivers like an Icom R3.
Thanks again to Chris Parris.
