Pittsburgh Narrowbanding Changes

This was posted to the PGHScanner Yahoo group :

UPDATE

Looks like only 30% of the city radios were ready to switch over to the new narrowband. As of 8am the county will wait until August 1st. to make the switchover. Nothing was said Friday or Sunday on the delay. I found out after getting phone calls that the new radios were not working.

Sorry Guys

Washington County EMS

467.3875 PL 110.9 UHF rebroadcast of 155.295 PL 110.9 Washington County EMS

New Antenna

I am now on the air with a new antenna. Tonight I have switched the coax over to DX Engineering MBV-5, 43 ft vertical antenna. I finished the install work today. There is still some work to be done, laying out all of the radials, getting coax in its final position and few other little things.

I am planning on moving the UHF/VHF/6 meter antenna to the chimney mount and raising it up on a 10 foot mast.

The old A99 did well while it was in service. So far it has: 173 confirmed, 159 phone, 117 digital, 110 17M, 131 15M, 110 10M and many more on other bands.

I am looking forward to using 20, 30, 40, and 80M more now.Hopefully a little better reception in the 6925 area as well.
